The Department is committed to providing strong and balanced teaching and training programs mainly to Postgraduate students, principally in the Master and Doctorate degrees in Clinical and Chemical Pathology tailored to each student subspecialty:

  • Hematology

  • Clinical Immunology

  • Clinical Microbiology

  • Clinical Chemistry

The Department is also partly involved in the teaching & training of Postgraduate students of other Departments enrolled in Master, Diplomas & Doctorate degrees in addition it provides instructional courses to the 6th year students.

Training Program in Regenerative Medicine (TPRM) of the University of Toronto

The Department of Clinical and Chemical Pathology of Cairo University has formed a partnership with the Training Program in Regenerative Medicine (TPRM) of the University of Toronto in Canada to introduce Regenerative Medicine to physicians and graduate students in Cairo University. This is one of the ClinChem events that are organized to improve the knowledge and background of trainees in Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine.
TPRM offers regular lectures to offer an overview of the current concepts and issues related to the field of regenerative medicine. The lectures will be webcasted live from Toronto.

What is Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine is defined as the practice of repair, regeneration, or replacement of tissues and organs that have failed. This field has enormous potential to revolutionize diagnostic and therapeutic approaches via the development of radical new therapies.
This broad field encompasses numerous innovative areas including stem cell therapy, therapeutic cloning, tissue engineering, tolerance research, gene therapy and organ transplantation.

This is the first event to introduce a regenerative medicine training program in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East. No other comprehensive training program exists in this important field in Canada or--to our knowledge--anywhere in the world. The first course was introduced to Cairo University in September 2012.
An average of 30-35 lectures will take place on Thursdays 4-6 pm Cairo Local Time (3-5 pm Summer time) starting in September 2018 till April 2019.

Registration and a registration fee of EGP 2600 must be made before the end of August 2018. Only a limited number of attendants will be allowed per course.

All students, scientists and physicians interested in stem cell research, molecular biology, tissue engineering, immunology, genetics, cloning, organ transplants are welcome to join the course.
